“The Rising of a Butterfly”, 2021 is the final product of a 7 minute speed painting performance I created for a group of 300 women in Tampa - FL.

That community was launching their women ministry at that event with the theme was “Rise Up”. I choose to paint a butterfly because of the many teachings we can get from it’s journey.

These amazing creatures have a long period of preparation and incubation before they become what they were created to be. Going through this process is not as simple as it sounds, it takes a lot of energy, it takes a long time, and at some moments it’s painful. Embracing the process to bloom into our purpose and calling can be very similar to the one caterpillars go through before turning into a butterfly. We can find many life lessons in nature, and this is only one of them.

Through this art performance women of all ages received a message of hope and the encouragement to believe that after the dark times inside a cocoon comes a time of beautiful colors and great flights.
