“Money Talks”, 2022 fitted perfectly the idea of this art exhibit that once more happened at the College Park Gallery.
If you know the meaning behind this quote then you will for sure understand why in a group of over 200 artists, this was one of the selected pieces to be a part of this showing.
The inspiration came from personal experiences I had when I clearly saw how money impacts some people’s decisions and judgements. The reason why I decided to paint this was because I needed to externalize the pain I had inside from suffering in situations where was proven to me that for many people, the money someone has in the bank account has more importance than the truth that’s being told. It was a powerful art therapy tool used to relieve my internal storms. Unfortunately we live in a society where money talks in many ways, and it doesn’t matter if you are a good or a bad person, if you pay your taxes by the law or not, if you are trustworthy or if you take advantage of the ones that are less “blessed” than you. Truth be told, for a lot of people what matters the most is if you have a luxury car in your garage and if your bag has golden double G’s or mirrored C’s on it. What matters the most is everything you present to everyone, even more than the truth you carry and hide from all eyes.
If you think we shouldn’t talk about it, then I proved my point in why I believe this is a taboo and why I created an art piece named after this social problem.
