In September of 2022 I had the honor to be invited to represent the artists of Brazil at the celebration of it’s Bicentennial Independence Anniversary that happened at the Orlando’s City Hall.

I used the image of Don Pedro I and the words “Independency or death” he shouted on the day of Brazil’s Independency proclamation to represent the importance of this day for every Brazilian. The popular technique of “lambe-lambe”which has been a part of Brazil’s art history mixed with the bright colors that are usually a mark of many of my works, brought a message of the joy and pride our people have from being able to celebrate such remarkable date.

On December of the same year I was honored to receive the Award of “Brazilian Artist of the Year” from the hands of Ms. Andrea Almeida, the president of the Central Florida Brazilian American Chamber of Commerce.
