.art for the littles
Many don’t know about it, but I have a degree in education and a teaching career of 20 years. I have always developed curriculums using an art approach because I believe it is one of the greatest tools to support learning and the cognitive and emotional development.
Combining my first degree with some specializations in Art Therapy to also attend children and their families is also something I love. There’s something very unique about providing kids with art experiences which they can learn how to handle different mediums, techniques and tools.
The awe children show when seeing the work of their hands in the end of each session, the joy and laughter when getting paint all over everything, the curious eyes searching for ways to explore more during the processes, and so many more things that I would probably spend the whole day listing is what makes of this type of project something so special for me.
During these sessions I am able to apply Art Therapy tools in order to support kids who are dealing with anxiety, ADHD, autism, kids going through the adoption process, kids who were born addicted due to substance using during pregnancy, among many other cognitive and emotional hardships.
The positive feedbacks are inevitable when using Art Therapy strategies to support kids in need of extra support or when it’s used to enhance the curriculum and the learning experience of the group.
